Been a while since my last article titled Understanding The Domain Controllers and Active Directory. Well, to connect my writing about Windows Active directory and domain controllers, I will explain how to install active directory and windows domain controller on your server.
Immediately practicing step steps below to install the Active directory and domain controllers on your windows server 2008
- Click Start dan ketik "dcpromo" kemudian tekan enter, Active Directory and Domain Services Installation Wizard akan muncul. Check the "Use advanced mode installation", then click next
- Operating System Compatibility information will appear. read if you want to read it, and then click next
- Choose a Deployment Configuration window will appear, select the "Create a new domain in a new forest" then click next
- "Name the Forest Root Domain" will appear
- Enter a fully qualified domain name for the forest root domain. Click Next.
- Set the Forest Functional Level by selecting "Windows Server 2008 R2 and then click Next
- Make sure DNS server is selected and Global catalog is selected by default. Click Next. The wizard prompts you to create a delegation to the DNS server. Click Yes
- Location for Database, Log Files, and SYSVOL appears on the screen. Select folders for the domain controller database, log files, and SYSVOL. or leave it in default, and then Click Next
- Directory Services Restore Mode Administrator Password screen Appears. Enter and confirm a password. Click Next
- Summary screen appears, just click next
- Process screen Appears while the installation runs. check the Reboot on completion
- After the installation process is complete, your computer will reboot automatically and the installation process was completed
